The hat is made in two pieces. The pattern was straightforward, just increasing and decreasing in stocking stitch.
As we expect by now, there is an error: the number of stitches given for the reinforcing strip is incorrect. The number given is for the scarf which is on the same page (140); it should be 160.
The main problem I had was in deciding where the hat should fold for the flaps, and the curling nature of stocking stitch. The word starch keeps popping into my brain.
And now, I have no option, but to give Samuel Crowe some personality, as without the hair .....
